My name is Boyd Smith and I am President of The Lincoln Executive Club.
Our Club was formed in 1957. Since that time many service clubs have come and gone. Most start with good people, high aspirations and the best intentions of performing a service for their community. But they end up with the same problem... a select few "higher ups" or worse yet, a parent organization somewhere "back East" runs everything and they lose members.
Another problem is getting existing members to recommend new members. They just don't get around to it, and eventually through attrition, the club slowly fades away into obscurity.
Now, here's the sad part. their members, the people that supported them, the people that trusted them, let me be very specific - YOU, - really have nowhere to go except to national clubs (Kiwanis, Sertoma, the Shriners, BNI etc.).
All great organizations, but what most executives REALLY want is just to have a relaxing lunch and the chance to visit with other local executives like themselves on a regular basis. They don't want to have a mandatory attendance schedule or be embarrased or 'fined' for something silly. They want to be treated like the executives they are and have a voice in how their Club operates. They want to elect their Club leaders and they don't want to have them serve forever.
The Lincoln Executive Club is made up of about 150 + loyal members. That number has remained pretty constant since we became independent back in 1957 (read about it in our "Club History").
Members elect our President, Vice President and Program Chair for a six-month term. That's it; six months and their term is done! The Executive Secretary and Board are elected for a year.
Most of our members are very busy in their daily lives so they may forget to invite you too, even though the cost for a non-member guest to attend is a very reasonable $12 plus parking.
